Why you should Never Miss a Monday Workout

Today’s tip is short and sweet: Never miss a Monday workout.

Starting your week off in a healthy way such as following your macros or working out can help you to have a more successful week overall.  This is partly due to the momentum you help to create.

If you start out eating healthfully and exercising, you are more likely to build momentum and keep up your healthy habits throughout the week.  Furthermore, Mondays tend to bring some stress and blues and exercise helps to fight it off.

However, the opposite can also be true.  If you skip a Monday, it makes it that much easier to continue to skip more and more days, making it more difficult to reach your goals.

Here are some tips to help you to never miss a Monday workout:

1. Plan ahead

 

If you haven’t learned this already, planning is key when it comes to reaching your health and fitness goals.  Sunday night, lay out your workout attire (see why you should make it exciting!), get all of your supplements ready, and pack your gym bag.  This will make it a LOT more difficult to find the excuse of, “I don’t have the time” because you’re already set to go.

2. Put it on your schedule

I talked about this before when we discussed accountability.  But this is especially important when it comes to not missing a Monday–schedule your workout ahead of time.  Find a block of time that works best for you and put it on your calendar or set a reminder on your phone and go!

3. Write it out

Writing your workout ahead of time, will again, save you some time and encourage you to complete your workout for that day.  No one wants extra work on a Monday, so do the workout planning ahead of time.

4. Recruit a friend

Ah, the power of the workout partner.  When you suffer, they suffer.  So why not grab a friend and plan to meet up on a Monday for your workout?

5. Go immediately after work

This is what always works for me.  I pack everything the night before and load it into my car.  Then, after work, I head straight to the gym.  No time is wasted and I’m guaranteed to get my workout in.  If I go home in between, there’s always the chance that I’ll convince myself not to go (gotta clean the house, too tired, should grade papers…) the excuses become endless.  Get there quick and get it done!

    Love these ideas. I used to HATE working out and would struggle to get in just 10 minutes. I put it on my calendar every day and told myself that boss ladies do not miss appointments even with themselves. Now that I’m sick and taking it easy I miss it so much and can’t wait till I can breathe freely again so I can get back to it!
